Making smooth that which was rough.
We expect it out of a tool.
At least a plane.
Why is it that we find the same thing in business offensive?
Someone offers a different way to look at a situation.
Someone talks about change.
We cut them off before they complete their thought.
The first is an opportunity to shape a situation. To mold what is into what could be even better.
The second is an opportunity to smooth a rough patch we are going through. To celebrate the old by creating the new.
When we value what was at the expense of what could be, we shut the door on progress.
Tools are great.
When we use them for their intended purpose instead of being one because we are serving only our own purposes.
It’s really that simple.
Plane and simple.
